Environmental Services is a division of Public Works that consists of the Solid Waste, Recycling, and Mosquito Control departments. Staff is tasked with the operation of yard waste and construction debris landfills, solid waste landfill contamination cleanup, collection of special appliances and household hazardous waste, recycling programs, and the control of disease-carrying mosquito populations. Environmental Services also includes collaboration with the Environmental Resources Coordinator who directs initiatives by Keep Okaloosa Beautiful.
Trash and Recycling info for Christmas and New Year's Day holidays:
• Garbage service for unincorporated County residential franchised areas will not be serviced on Thursday, December 25, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, 2026.
- Thursday garbage collection will take place the following Monday
- Thursday recycling collection will be delayed to Saturday
- Thursday Yard Trash and Bulk Waste pickup will be delayed to Saturday
